New Contest Honors Firefighters for Service to Communities
On Dec. 6, Circuit City ’s new firedog services brand launched a nationwide campaign honoring America ’s firefighters for exceptional service to their communities. “firedog Across America” is an online essay contest asking Americans to describe how their local firehouses have gone above and beyond the call of duty. During the campaign, which runs through May 2007, Circuit City will give away a total of $650,000 to the winning firehouses and the people who write essays about them.
The “firedog Across America” contest launch was held in New York City at the Ladder 3/Battalion 6 firehouse. There, Circuit City donated $100,000 to the National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children’s Foundation, and gave an additional $100,000 to the FDNY Foundation. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, NYC Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, and NYC Fire Chief Salvatore Cassano were all on hand to kick off the contest.
To help Circuit City recognize the invaluable contributions that the nation’s firefighters make every day, and for the chance to win a $10,000 home “techover”, visit http://web.firedog.com/acrossamerica.
Here's how the contest works:
1.) Tell firedog Your Story
Tell firedog your personal story about how a local firehouse has demonstrated service to your community by March 31, 2007. If your story is chosen as one of 10 finalists, you will receive a $10,000 home “techover” from firedog and your fire station will receive a $20,000 donation.
2.) America Votes
Once the 10 finalist firehouses have been chosen, the stories will be posted on firedog.com and between April 28 and May 13, America will vote for their favorite.
3.) The Best Part, Everyone Wins
All of the finalist firehouses win. For every vote cast for a finalist firehouse, that finalist firehouse will receive a $1.00 donation (total donations based on voting for all 10 firehouses not to exceed $250,000). The station with the most votes will be the national grand-prize winner and receive an additional $100,000 donation!
