Fatal Fire

Station 43 assisted Station 35 in Robin Hood Lakes for a working structure fire. Units went on scene just as the snow started to fall- found a fully involved two story wood frame house with one exposure. A 11 year old passed away in the fire. Penn Forrest also assisted with 2 tankers. When crews finally left there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground.
The pictures arent my best work but here they are

Any word on what caused the fire? I live in R.H.L., this house is right by our mailboxes. I realize the house was all wood, but it did burn fairly quickly didn't it? The polk substation is only 1 mile from RHL, so i can't see the response time being all that long.

Brian- at this point I have no idea what started the fire- it is being investigated by the State Police fire Marshal. Fires do sometimes burn for long periods of time without being noticed, especially at that time of night. I was on a utual aid engine and Polk was already on scene so not sure how long the response time was.

I'm from Tucson AZ where this little girl lived until this past summer when she moved to Pa. We feel terrible sad about this awful fire. She was a lovely child. Her grandparents are so upset. I've been trying to find something on this fire and this is the first I have found. Thank you for helping us see what happened from so far away.
