43 RIT Please respond- no wait cancel

Lightning Sparks Fire

A bolt of lightning is blamed for touching off a fire in Carbon County Wednesday night.

Firefighters think the bolt struck an electric fence behind a home near Albrightsville. That apparently caused a shed inside the fence to burst into flames. the owner was especially worried because he keeps a buck inside the shed.

"It sounded like two .22 shots. Like ping, ping! The thunder was immediate and I said to my wife, 'it hit some place close!'" said Earle Meckes.

Some hay inside the shed did burn but the buck was not hurt.

Fairly slow in the West End

With the exception of some false alarms and probably some medicals it has been an uneventfull week in the West End. I know as soon as I hit enter we will get something good. I guess this just means that people are being safe. There was a drowning in town as a result of a heart attack- unsure if 43 Rescue was toned out for that or not. Hope everyone is staying cool.

7/15/05 Early Morning double Car Fire

Around 5am this morning, Station 43 was toned out to a car fire on Route 209 in the Monroe Plaza in Brodheadsville . First on scene 43-S-1 reported 2 cars fully involved with a small coffee shop about 50 feet away. (Which by the way did not provide us with any refreshments) The crew on 43-1-2 made a quick knock down on the fire, good job by Nick Caprioli, Frank Tatusko and a green horn to be named later, John McKeever was on the pump.. 43-2-5 driven by Fran Weiss provided water supply and 43-1-1 arrived after their long journey and assisted with mop up. It appears the driver of the Blazer hit a mattress on the road which got stuck under his truck and caught fire. In order to protect others property he parked right next to the one other car that was in the lot which is also a total loss.

Riverdale, NJ Wetdown

Over the weekend I attend a wetdown in Riverdale, NJ. They purchased a new Pierce Engine and a Pierce Quint. That sounds kind of familiar. I wasnt able to get that close to the trucks as a bunch of idiots kept spraying water all over the place.

Barn Fire- assist Station 23 and 28

Station 43 was dispatched for Tankers only, but was upgraded to a full response to this fully involved barn fire. Units responding were 43-4-4,43-1-2 and 43-2-5. The barn was full of 300 bales of hay and a large amount of fire wood. Station 23 chief decided to let it burn and released all companies with the fire still raging.

Medevac landing for stabbing

Here is why I cursed us on sunday:
While out on a car fire, Station 43 was toned out to a stabbing call in Upper Sierra View. 43-1-2 went direct and provided patient care, 43-1-1 cleared from the car fire call and set up the Landing Zone. A great job was done by all on the call.

Fred Rosado watches Medevac 2 go in the air.

The Curse of the Internet

Well not even five minutes after typing the last post this blog ws responsible for setting a car on fire and making some lady stab her boyfriend. I will post some pictures of the Med Evac Landing for the stabbing but we left the car fire too quickly to get pictures.

Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th. We have been very quiet this weekend and i know as soon as I finish typing this we will get a call. Its been pretty dry and I am sure with all the fireworks we will get a brush fire of some sort.
